LeChase IT team shows off basketball skills

By day, they work to ensure employees are technology-equipped and that everything runs smoothly in the LeChase IT universe. Outside of the office, they’ve been working on their basketball skills.

LeChase IT team members Jon Bolland, Mike Pavia, Chris Williamson and John Connolly recently sported green uniforms and LeChase logos to participate in Olean’s annual Gus Macker 3-on-3 basketball tournament.

“Mike and I started shooting around, and got wind of the tournament,” Jon explained. After asking LeChase to sponsor a team, they recruited co-workers Chris and John. For the next three months they practiced a couple of times a week to prepare. Although the “Generals” didn’t exactly dominate the competition, Jon said the tournament was “great fun,” adding: “We look forward to joining fall and winter leagues in the area to sharpen our skills to bring back a victory next year!”

Gus Macker tournaments – designed for players who “love the fun of the driveway game” – have been traveling across the country for more than 30 years. Today, they are played on city streets, in parking lots and in community parks. Despite some wet weather, 172 teams took part in the Olean tournament, which was sponsored by the local chamber of commerce.
