At a ceremony on October 23, the Durham Public Schools Murray-Massenburg Elementary School project received a Best Project Award in the ENR Texas & Southeast Regional Best Projects competition. The award was first announced in August, with the project recognized in the K-12 Education category.
LeChase served as the construction manager on the new three-story school. Comprised of several wings centered around an open courtyard, Murray-Massenburg features a non-conventional layout and various indoor and outdoor learning spaces. It is on track to become the first WELL-certified elementary school in the state.
The project was previously recognized with a 2024 Excellence in Construction Merit Award from the Associated Builders and Contractors of the Carolinas and a 2025 Build America Merit Award from the Associated General Contractors of America.
