Ten years in the making, Alfred State’s Workforce Development Center celebrates ribbon cutting

In April, LeChase helped Alfred State College celebrate the ribbon cutting for its 35,000-square-foot Workforce Development Center, which will be home to the school’s building construction program. You could say the ceremony was a long time coming, as LeChase actually completed the foundations and shell of the building ten years ago.  Since then, the school’s building trades students have been fitting out the facility as part of their hands-on education.  “It seems like a long time but much of the material had to be budgeted or donated over the years, so it was an off-and-on thing,” explained LeChase Vice President Fred Thompson, who spoke at the event. Now, Thompson said, the building is finally finished and can be fully utilized.

LeChase, which also was among donors who initially got the project off the ground, is named on a plaque at the front of the building. For more about the ribbon cutting, click here for coverage on the Alfred State site.
