Steam blow preps Duke hot water plant for start-up

The team working on Duke University’s Hot Water Plant #2 recently marked a milestone, conducting a safe and successful steam blow. The steam blow was done to flush any exiting contaminants from the carbon steel piping prior to start-up of the plant’s new heat exchangers.

When operational, the plant will convert high-pressure steam to produce hot water for distribution to campus buildings.

Congratulations to team members Matt Kenne, Chris Swanson and Todd Hilderbrandt for a well-planned and safely performed event.
