July 11, 2016…Hornell, N.Y. – After a thorough and competitive review, St. James Mercy Hospital (SJMH) has awarded the construction manager contract for its new hospital and medical village project to LeChase Construction Services, LLC. Headquartered in Rochester, N.Y., with a local office in Corning, N.Y., LeChase has an extensive background in health care construction, having recently completed the UR Medicine’s Golisano Children’s Hospital.

In addition, LeChase has completed projects for institutions such as Duke University and Bausch & Lomb, Inc. Locally, LeChase recently has worked with both Alfred University and the North Hornell Elementary School.

“It was important for us to choose a construction partner with strong local ties to the Hornell community and who understands how important this project is, not only to SJMH, but also to the patients we serve,” said Jennifer Sullivan, SJMH President and CEO. “LeChase has a proven track record of safety, efficiency and cleanliness, and the team has demonstrated a keen understanding of the needs of the Southern Tier. We are very excited to partner with LeChase for this project.”

“We are proud to partner with St. James in building this transformative medical village in Hornell,” said LeChase Construction CEO William H. Goodrich. “We have worked with more than 40 health care institutions and we will bring that experience along with a local presence to benefit the project. This is truly an exciting endeavor and the leadership of St. James Mercy Hospital is to be commended for being at the forefront of improving health care delivery and creating a true community asset.”

LeChase will be working closely with architect Razak & Associates, and project manager HB Cornerstone for the $55 million facility and medical village project. Groundbreaking on the new facility is expected to occur by the end of 2016. The facility completion date is expected to be in early to mid-2018.
