More milestones, recognition for Rochester airport project

Now complete aside from some outdoor punch-list items, the Greater Rochester International Airport project continues to be in the news.

Recently, Monroe County held a grand opening ceremony for two new restaurants: the Flight Deck Diner near concourse A and On The Rocs – a sports bar and grille near concourse B. (For additional coverage by WHAM, click here.)

In addition, the renovation was recently named Project of the Year in the structures category by the New York State Chapter of the American Public Works Association (APWA). Previously, the airport had been recognized by the APWA’s Genesee Valley Branch.

“This renovation transformed the Airport into a next-generation travel hub, enhancing our efforts to attract more jobs and investment to our community,” said Monroe County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo, in accepting the state award. “I’m proud to have worked with our construction partners and trades unions to complete this project on time and on-target.”
