LeChase team presents at Durham Tech construction camp

By July 26, 2023August 10th, 2023Community, Southeast – Durham, NC

On July 18, the LeChase Southeast team visited Durham Tech Community College to give a presentation as part of the school’s construction summer camp. Project Executive Kathryn Payne led a discussion on the lifecycle of a project and explained to students how a building can go from a simple napkin sketch to reality.

All participants in this week-long engineering and skilled-trades camp are students at Durham Public Schools (DPS), so the team shared information about the projects that LeChase is currently working on in the district.

The team on the Murray-Massenburg Elementary School project – LeChase’s Stuart Short and Brandt Smith from SGS Contracting – were joined by BIM specialist, AJ Mullins, and interns Nayla Seda and Jacob Haigler to talk to students about that DPS project. They shared videos of rock blasting, drone overviews and gave specific examples of how a project comes to life. The students were also given the opportunity to fly around the BIM model, which helped them correlate real-life photos with the 3D images.

Our team had a great time connecting with the next generation of construction professionals!
