Duke Lilly Library project marks topping out milestone

On November 12, the team working on Duke University’s Lilly Library project held a topping out ceremony to celebrate the placement of the final beam. In this case, because the steel for the addition had already been completed, the ceremony was marked by an air-handling unit being placed by crane onto the library’s roof.

LeChase Executive Vice President Seth London attended the event along with the project team, subcontractors and representatives from Duke.

LeChase – through its Southeast office – is serving as construction manager for the renovation and expansion, which will restore and modernize the historic library building. The new addition will provide more seating, collaborative study spaces and technology-equipped project rooms.
