Senior Preconstruction Estimator Alan Cocquyt was recently honored as Volunteer of the Year by Rochester’s Ability Partners Foundation. The non-profit organization supports people with disabilities through programs offered by its three affiliate agencies: CP Rochester, Happiness House and Rochester Rehabilitation.

Alan accepted the award at the Foundation’s annual Evening of the Stars Gala at Locust Hill Country Club on September 29. His family was on hand to help celebrate the honor.

“Alan Cocquyt has been a dedicated instructor and coordinator for the Shared Ski Adventures Program since 2009,” noted a tribute in the Gala program. “He has donated, built and repaired many items for the program on his own initiative. Alan sees a need and responds quickly and generously.”

The program also described Alan’s work at CP Rochester’s Jefferson Road site during recent United Way Day of Caring events. This year, he organized a team of 12 LeChase co-workers to pour a concrete walkway and make other much-needed improvements to the house.

“Alan, a caring and giving person, is a natural leader who encourages others to get behind his causes,” the tribute continued. “He has a great understanding of the people supported by CP Rochester and is eager to help us with our mission whenever possible.”

Congratulations, Alan, on this much-deserved recognition.
