Brooke Hathaway, regional safety director in the southeast, recently took time to spread a message of safety beyond her LeChase team members. Participating at an annual career day event at Salem Middle School in the Raleigh suburb of Apex, Brooke explained the planning, protective gear and equipment used to prevent accidents and injuries on a job site. She also involved students in some stretching and flexing exercises and challenged them to spot hazards in a series of job site photos. Closing her session, she discussed home safety tips they could share with their families.

“I’m not sure who had more fun, me or the kids,” Brooke said. “This is the third year I’ve been involved, and I’m always amazed by how inquisitive and intelligent these 6th graders really are. It is such a rewarding event.”
