The Blue Light project celebrates topping out

In November, the team working on The Blue Light apartments in Durham celebrated a topping out after completing vertical concrete on the project.

The building is a seven-story post-tensioned cast-in-place concrete structure, with a level of below grade parking. Concrete foundations for the parking garage began in April 2019, after crews had completed abatement, remediation and demolition on the site.

To celebrate this most recent milestone, a catered lunch was held onsite for about 120 workers from LeChase and subcontracting firms as well as other invited guests. To additionally recognize the hard work leading up to the topping out, prizes – including tools, safety gear and gift cards – were raffled off at the end of the lunch.

The student apartments, located near Duke University, are scheduled to open in August 2020.
