UR Medicine | St. James Hospital

With rapid technology changes and growing demand for medical and health services, small community hospitals have to evolve to keep pace. In Hornell, N.Y., that led to construction of the new St. James Hospital. Completed in 2020, St. James was the first hospital to be built from the ground-up in New York State over the previous five years.

Constructed to replace an older facility, the new 87,000-SF hospital provides a full range of inpatient and outpatient services and incorporates the latest technologies and energy-efficient infrastructure. It includes 15 inpatient beds, a state-of-the-art emergency department, a full surgical department, advanced imaging services, an infusion department and pharmacy. A third-floor area houses mechanical infrastructure including air handlers and hot water boilers.
