Seward House Museum | Barn and Carriage House Renovation
This project renovated two historic 1860s structure – a stone barn and carriage house – at the Seward House Museum in Auburn, New York. The scope of work included preserving and repurposing the buildings to create 3,000-SF of multi-functional space.
The barn was transformed into a flexible area for events and meetings, while the carriage house was restored to house former Secretary of State William H. Seward’s historic carriage along with exhibits and artifacts. The upper level of the carriage house now includes office space for staff.
Work included significant structural repairs, updates to the foundation and interior improvements. The project also included the installation of modern systems for lighting and ventilation, and a new geothermal heating system – while maintaining the historic character of the buildings.
